Trainer Adrian ‘Ado’ McGuinness has been given a suspended two-year disqualification by the Turf Club arising from a court appearance in Swords, County Dublin last year when he was convicted of being in possession of unauthorised animal remedies at his yard near Lusk, also in County Dublin.

The trainer’s yard had been visited by Department of Agriculture officers in June 2014 and in court he was convicted of being in possession of the unauthorised Cyanocobalamin , AnaSed, Colvasone, Vita Red and two other medicines, without licence or prescription.

He was fined €2,500 after his offences were described in court as being “at the lower end” of the scale in relation to the possession of unauthorised animal remedies.

On Tuesday the referrals committee of the Turf Club imposed a two-year ban that they then suspended for two years on the basis that McGuinness does not reoffend. McGuinness was ordered to pay €1,000 in costs to the Turf Club.

McGuinness said: “I’m just glad and relieved it’s all over. I made a mistake three years ago and it’s all behind me now.”
