Luke Griffith to face stewards after three winners test positive to ice

Scone trainer Luke Griffith will face Racing NSW stewards after three winners from his stable tested positive the party drug ice.
It is the first time the drug has been found in samples from horse in NSW.
Stewards have been carrying out an investigation for the past couple of months into the Griffith stable. They confirmed on Thursday that Another Halo and How Will I Know, winners at Tamworth on January 19, and Incensual, which won at Taree on February 3, had two official racing laboratories certify the presence of methylamphetamine in their samples.
“We have been going through the process about this for some time and we will open an inquiry in the next couple of weeks,” NSW chief steward Ray Murrihy said. “It is the first time we have found this drug in any horse in NSW.”
Samples have been taken from the majority of horses in Griffith’s stable and stewards also have the results from samples taken from stable staff, which were take as part of the investigation.
Griffith was briefly banned from having runners during the investigation until his horses were cleared of having the drug in their systems.
He has yet to be charged with any offence by stewards and the stable is free to continue its operations.
