Patricia Farro, leading trainer in 2016 at Parx Racing, returns to the suburban Philadelphia, Pa., track from a 15-day medication violation suspension on Saturday, March 4. Another Parx-based trainer, Miguel Penaloza, has 2 1/2 weeks left on a 45-day suspension for two violations related to medication and possession of a hypodermic needle.

Parx stewards fined Farro $500 and suspended her 15 days from Feb. 15-March 1 after Hidden Acres 4D Farm’s Billy Lion Heart, first in the ninth race Jan. 14, tested positive for clenbuterol. Billy Lion Heart was disqualified from the win and purse money redistributed. Farro also was assigned two multiple medication violation points.

During her suspension, Farro’s horses are being saddled by Alberto Plaza.

In a ruling dated Jan. 3, Penaloza was suspended Feb. 1-Feb. 15, fined $500 and assigned two multiple medication violation points after his Sierra Ancha tested positive for clenbuterol following a second-place finish last Sept. 26. The horse was disqualified and placed last, with the purse money redistributed.

Penaloza was suspended an additional 30 days, Feb. 16-March 17, for being in possession of a hypodermic needle.
