Trainer Brendan McCarthy has been suspended for three months after pleading guilty to race-day treatment charges.

The McCarthy-trained Zedi Knight was engaged to race at Caulfield on April 4 but was scratched after Racing Victoria’s Compliance and Assurance team found a puncture wound to its neck.

McCarthy pleaded guilty to the charge of injecting a medication to Zedi Knight when he appeared before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

He was also fined $750 for failing to record the treatment given to the sprinter.

McCarthy said he would not appeal.

Meanwhile, Ricky Maund faces two charges of the race-day administration of an alkalizing agent to Uncle Keithy at Caulfield on April 18.
