For the third time in the space of a little over a week, a Purebred Arabian trainer based in the United Arab Emirates has been banned two years for cobalt positives. Nacer Samiri pleaded guilty to presenting two horses to race in November with cobalt in their systems over the allowed limit of 100 micrograms per litre of urine. Both horses were disqualified from their respective races, and Samiri was banned one year for each charge, which stewards directed to be served concurrently. The suspension takes effect immediately and expires Jan. 18, 2018.
