RMTC ADDS ZENYATTA TO HALTER AUCTION FOR CRITICAL TACTICAL RESEARCH GRANTS STARTING TODAY

OTHER ADDITIONS INCLUDE EMPIRE MAKER AND QUARTER HORSE STANDOUTS DASH FOR CASH, MR JESS PERRY AND TAILOR FIT

Between November 24 at 3 p.m. ET and December 1 at 3 p.m. ET, the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium (RMTC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will auction off halters of famous racing and stallion stars on its eBay page.

All proceeds from the auction will go toward the RMTC’s four-year grant program beginning in 2018 to encourage tactical research into the detection and identification of illicit substances. The RMTC is pursuing contributions from other industry groups and individuals to match funds provided by the RMTC. The funding level has not been finalized but is expected to be at least $500,000.

“This program will provide researchers a consistent funding source for critical tactical research projects,” said RMTC Executive Director Dr. Dionne Benson. “This initiative will enable us to make significant advances in targeting emerging threats and developing new techniques to test for them – both of which are essential to effectively regulating our sport.”

Racehorse halters offered in the auction include: Always Dreaming, Arrogate, Forever Unbridled, Girvin and Gun Runner.

Halters of other racing standouts include: Beholder, Funny Cide, Lava Man, Rachel Alexandra, Serena’s Song, Songbird, Tailor Fit and Zenyatta.

Stallion halters offered include: Corona Cartel, Dash For Cash, Empire Maker, Ghostzapper, Lea, Malibu Moon, Mr Jess Perry, Mucho Macho Man, Nyquist, Point Given, Shackleford and Uncle Mo.

The RMTC would like to thank Mrs. Adele Dilschneider, Adena Springs, Mrs. Ann Moss, Asmussen Racing, Mr. Brad Grady, Calumet Farm, Claiborne Farm, Coolmore America, Country Life Farm, Mr. Dallas Stewart, Darby Dan Farm, Darley, Denali Stud, Doug O’Neill Racing, Fox Hill Farm, Gainesway Farm, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, Mrs. Janet VanBebber, Mr. Jerry Moss, Juddmonte, Lane’s End Farm, Lazy E Ranch, Spendthrift Farm, Stonestreet Farms, Taylor Made Farm, The Four Sixes Ranch, The Kentucky Horse Park Hall of Champions, West Point Thoroughbreds and WinStar Farm for their generous support.
