Australia’s leading trainer Darren Weir and fellow Ballarat trainer Simon Morrish could face charges relating to positives for anti-inflammatories.

Racing Victoria stewards on Monday announced it had received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited confirming a positive swab has been provided by the Darren Weir-trained horse, Air Guitar at the Burrumbeet Racecourse in June.

Air Guitar had been engaged in a jump-out for the purpose of obtaining a permit to start.

RASL reported that the sample contained Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone, which is a prohibited substance in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.

On Thursday, 3 August 2017, RV Stewards initially informed Weir of the irregularity.

RV stewards notified Weir of the irregularity on August 3.

Morrish’s charge related to his horse Miss Astronomoore.

The report relates to a blood sample taken from Miss Astronomoore from the same Burrumbeet meeting in June 2017, to engage in a jump-out for the purpose of obtaining a permit to start.

RASL reported that the sample contained Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone.
